As entrepreneurs, we often hear about the end result—the moment someone “makes it.” What’s less talked about are the growing pains, uncertain moments, and little victories along the way that shape the journey. This holiday season, I experienced one of those monumental moments that made me pause and reflect with gratitude and pride.
This year, Beacon North Strategies turned four. What started as an idea has grown into a company with a permanent team, exciting ventures, and now, our first-ever in-person Christmas party. To some, it may seem like a small milestone, but for me, it was huge. I was so excited—almost embarrassed by how excited I was—but it felt like a significant moment for our brand, our team, and the company’s story.
Celebrating as a Team
We decided as a group what to do for our party, and axe throwing followed by dinner together made the list. Since most of our work is remote, it was a wonderful opportunity to catch up in person, build relationships, and enjoy each other’s company. More than that, it was a chance for me to show my appreciation for the incredible team who believe in Beacon North and make it what it is.
The Weight of Responsibility
As a small business owner, taking on permanent staff is no small step. I’ve worked with subcontractors and partners before, but building a team that’s permanently part of your company—a company you’ve poured your heart into—is a different kind of responsibility. It’s not just about work; it’s about people’s livelihoods. These are the jobs that feed their families and pay their mortgages.
That responsibility is something I take very seriously. It’s humbling to know that talented individuals are putting their trust in me and in Beacon North. It’s also deeply rewarding to see the vision I had for this company supported by a team who believes in what we’re doing together.
Looking Ahead
Christmas is often a time for reflection and planning for the future, and this year is no different. Our first Beacon North Christmas party was not just a celebration of the year behind us but also a moment to pause and look ahead with excitement and optimism.
For me, it’s about more than the work we do—it’s about the people, the relationships, and the trust that’s built along the way. This party felt like a marker of growth, a testament to what we’ve built, and a moment to honour the journey we’re on together.
As we close out 2024, I’m thankful for my team and everyone who’s supported Beacon North Strategies along the way. I’m excited for what comes next, and I’m grateful to share the journey with a group of people who believe in what we’re building.
Here’s to growth, gratitude, and the next chapter in 2025.
