🌟 Christmas Reflections 🌟

This holiday season, I leaned into the time off—and wow, did I need it. Normally, I’m “on” 24/7: a 10 pm client text? Sure, I’m here for it. But this holiday… no can do. I made a conscious effort to step back, and for once, work was often the last thing on my mind.

Sure, I snuck in a few things here and there, but it pales in comparison to my usual output. For someone who genuinely loves their work, it’s hard to switch my brain off, but this break was so necessary.

It reminded me of the WOMENdontDOthat podcast episode on burnout that I recorded right before the holidays (listen here: https://www.womendontdothat.com/podcast/episode/1bca6b1b/episode-177-overcoming-burnout-with-lydia-di-francesco). I had been wondering if I was on the verge of burnout myself. Taking this time off made me realize just how much I needed it. If you’re headed toward burnout, already in it, or trying to prevent it, I highly recommend checking out the episode.

This break gave me time to focus on family, rest, and even tackle some personal projects. I spent a few days with my family and a few with my husband’s family. I also planned an epic New Year’s Eve family party and spent some time organizing my home, including my closet—a long-overdue task that left me feeling ridiculously proud! It’s funny how I kept thinking, “If my closet is organized, my workdays will feel so much less chaotic.” A lot of pressure for a closet, but hey, it worked!

I also enjoyed cozy nights by the fire with friends, shopping (both errands and for fun), skiing and skating with my girls, and quality time with my husband. It was the perfect mix of productivity and relaxation. Did I do a lot of work? No. Should I have? Maybe. But then I reflect and think, absolutely not. Without this break, I wouldn’t be stepping into January with this renewed energy and excitement.

As a business owner, it’s so hard to step back and take time off, as it is for most of us. But I’ve realized that rest is essential—not just for me, but for my ability to better serve my clients, support my team, and pursue my goals with focus and purpose.

So, here I am—back in the office today with a renewed sense of commitment, excitement, and energy for 2025. I’m ready to take on new challenges, serve my clients, and continue growing Beacon North and our ventures.

✨ Here’s to 2025—I hope it holds much hope, optimism, and success for all of us. And if you’re feeling burned out, don’t wait to give yourself the rest you deserve. You’ll thank yourself later!
